Common Looks (sincerely)

Barbie has had an interesting beginning and a lot of plastic surgery through the years (understatement there but OK).  There have been a wide variety of moulds used to produce her face (and mould produced on her face, it might not be as pure as a Petri dish but it's more fun.)
So is yours a true Vintage, Mod, Pink Box, Collector's Edition or Reproduction
(who cares but have a read anyway.)

1966 was the year the most common Barbie body was copywrited/patented, it is not an indication of when the doll was made. (that can be told by the toxicity and smell of what she is made from)

The best way to tell the approximate year of actual manufacture is to look at where she was made
(Mattel promotes her as an All American Girl, ahem....she is and always has been Asian, except for a brief time in Mexico.... see below)

1958 to 1971 born in Japan
1968 to 1970 born in Mexico
1970 to 1982 born in HONG KONG
1972 to 1978 born in Korea
1974 to 1987 born in Taiwan
1978 to 1988 born in

PHILIPPINES

1986 to 2004 born in CHINA
1992 to 2004 born in INDONESIA
